So … the new Krom Monster record is finished and available via iTunes. We’re looking into a wider commercial release, but in the meantime this is your best way to get the whole thing.
Its probably one of the first examples of a record using khmer instrumentation extensively within experimental music, and we’re very happy with the results. Go purchase, play, pass on …

Big Pit brakes by Incidental
We’re just starting a new project in Wales - working in the old mining communities with salvaged metal, scratch orchestras and digital software design. This is the sound of original braking system (still in use) as they shuttle people down the...

We’re planning to use short close ups of famous stars, and then to overlay them with footage taken on the street this week of people replicating the same movements.
This only features the old...
Anonymous asked: The music tracks are very nice. Is there any way of showing them playing the instruments? As an intro of khmer instruments for us anglo's reading your blog?

One of the early, unexpected fruits of our time in Phnom Penh is the surfacing of a wealth of videos from a now-forgotten age of cinema in Cambodia.
These videos were found by our project partner Kanitha and a Davy Chou, and we’re very grateful for their generosity in sharing them.
The films tend to fall into two categories - fantastic, mythological dramas, and more realist depictions of...

Arrived...
So thankfully we managed to bypass the london ash - and arrived in Phnom earlier this week. Things are off to a quick start - we’ve started scheduling the formal sessions to begin next week.
On Monday and Thursdays we will be running afternoon sessions at the Royal University of Fine Arts, with 2 groups of students (about 30 total) who specialise in either Visual Arts, Sculpture or Graphic...
